REPORT ON WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY SEMINAR
On the occasion of “World Hypertension Day 2023” the Department of Practice of Medicine
and Physiology of SVHMCH had organized the seminar on 17/06/2023 from 10:00 am onwards.
World Hypertension Day 2023: World Hypertension Day is annually observed all over the
world. The main objective behind celebrating the day is to educate people and spread awareness
about hypertension and its effects on the body. The excessive flow of blood towards the arterial
walls is known as hypertension. Blood pressure over 140/90 is typically regarded as high, and
over 180/120 is a warning. In many cases, high blood pressure is symptomless, and if left
unchecked, it can lead to health problems like heart disease and stroke.
The session started with an introductory speech given by Prof. Dr. Indrajeet P. Shah. HOD
Practice of Medicine. It was then followed by the students led seminar given by all the
participants. Ms Daniya and Mr Sanskar Kadam (I BHMS) has presented a seminar on who to
measure blood pressure. Ms Jyoti, Ms Umme Kulsum and Ms K Sushma from (III BHMS)
presented ppts with introduction to Hypertension, causes, clinical features, investigation,
complications, preventive measures, auxiliary line of treatment and homoeopathic approach to
hypertension. Dr Suresh R. Nair, Dean SVHMCH made a stress on auxiliary line of treatment in
hypertension. Later Dr A. N. Parameshwari HOD, Physiology and Biochemistry emphasized the
importance of this year’s theme generates awareness about the importance of the accurate
measurement of blood pressure. Students found the seminar was very interesting and
encouraging and were overwhelmed by the performance given by the participants.
Activity concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr. Bhagyashree H, Asst. Prof Physiology
Dept. Total 82 students and 15 teaching staff attended the seminar. We thank our Principal Dr.
Indrajeet P. Shah and Management for his permission to conduct the above activity and his
support.
