Report: Sri Veerabhadreshwar Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital Conducted Successful Breast Cancer Awareness Program.
Sri Veerabhadreshwar Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Humnabad, took a significant step in the fight against breast cancer by organizing a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Program. The event, held on October 7, 2023, at Umadevi Patil College of Nursing, Humnabad, was aimed at spreading awareness about breast cancer and educating the community on prevention and early detection.
The program began with a warm welcome by Mrs. Sulavati, Principal of Umadevi Patil College of Nursing, who extended greetings to the faculty from SVHMCH with flowers.
The event featured a sensitization role-play highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness among the general population, creatively performed by BHMS students Ms. Joyti, Ms. Aishwarya, and Ms. Poonam of III BHMS.
Dr. Karunaratna, Assistant Professor at Sri Veerabhadreshwar Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, presented an informative session on the epidemiology and risk factors associated with breast cancer. Dr. Karunaratna shared alarming statistics illustrating the increasing prevalence of breast cancer in recent years.
Dr. Deepti Anand, another Assistant Professor at SVHMCH, conducted an enlightening and interactive session on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. She also demonstrated how to perform a Self Breast Examination (SBE) and provided valuable advice to female students and women on measures to protect themselves from this dreaded disease.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Patri, Administrative officer, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions to this essential awareness initiative.
